The demands on sensors for position detection in automation and drive technology increase with the complexity and performance of the associated machines and systems. One solution is the high-resolution, contactless absolute encoder MSA213K from SIKO. This provides the absolute position at any time (without referencing or buffer battery). With its high signal quality, the encoder is ideal for use in handling and assembly automation, machining systems, pick-and-place applications as well as PCB machining and always provides precise values for position and speed measurement in linear direct drives.
High resolution and absolute
TThe magnetic absolute linear encoder impresses with a high absolute resolution of 1 µm, which ensures precise position detection at all times. The absolute measurement is indispensable above all in safety-relevant applications when a position change must be reliably detected even in the currentless state.
The achieved repeatability of ±1 μm enables reliable use in multi-axis applications and positioning systems, in which precise control or recognition of positions is required. This performance level is achieved over a length of up to 16 meters.
Numerous interfaces
So that the MSA213K can be integrated as easily as possible, it is available with numerous absolute interfaces. Starting with the basic variants with SSI and BiSS C, the sensor is also available with IO-Link. In addition, an incremental interface is available in parallel as a digital line driver or analog 1 Vpp signal output. With this combination, absolute path information is provided at all times and exact commutation is also possible in dynamic operation.
Installation flexibility
The compact installation dimensions and a large reading distance of up to 0.8 mm, together with the 270° swiveling connector, enable flexible integration into a wide range of applications For easy installation and operation, the absolute encoder has a clearly visible LED function and status indicator that provides feedback on function and operating status.
The absolute encoder MSA213K convinces with its high absolute resolution of 1 µm for precise position detection and a high reading distance of up to 0.8 mm at the same time. With the absolutely coded magnetic tape MBA213, measurements over a length of up to 16 meters are possible. Different absolute interfaces are available for integration into the control environment, which can be supplemented by incremental (LD) or analog (1 Vss) signal outputs for rapid regulation. The swivel-mounted M12 plug enables easy integration into the application on the customer side. The MSA213K is compatible with the MSA111C and can be used as an alternative with a higher reading distance and a longer absolute travel distance.
