Of the approximately 240 employees worldwide now working in seven different locations, 70 have been working in the impressive new building in Bad Krozingen starting from May 2020 and are very pleased with the new and modern working environment. After the official groundbreaking ceremony for the new building in the "Am Krozinger Weg" industrial park, which took place at the end of March 2019, the construction took a little over one year to complete. “Considering that our electronics production had already been gradually moving to our new plant at the end of 2019 and quickly started production, we can be very satisfied with the overall duration of the construction progress, despite the construction boom in 2019 and the corona crisis in 2020,” Managing Director Sven Wischnewski stated.
The new Bad Krozingen plant now has 5,000 m² of usable space for the production of electronic devices as well as sales and marketing. The investment volume, including machinery and building equipment, amounted to 13 million euros and is a commitment to local production in Germany as well as to the loyal employees from the region who have worked in the company for many years.
The production infrastructure with state-of-the-art workstations and machines for the production of electronic circuit boards for own drive technology, for example, has been consistently aligned with methods of “lean production”. Production and office employees alike are pleased with the building and workplace design, which promotes open communication and collaboration on the one hand, but at the same time also enables quiet and concentrated work. Ergonomically designed workplaces have long been standard at SIKO and effectively prevent back pains. The staff cafeteria with lounge area in the typical wooden design of the Black Forest provides a pleasant atmosphere for the physical well-being of the staff.
To take account of environmental and climate issues, several electricity filling stations for e-cars and e-bikes have been installed in the company car park for visitors and employees. These are supplied with green and self-generated electricity in an environmentally sustainable manner via a large-scale photovoltaic system, which is located on the roof of the building. Earth probes with heat pumps as well as a climate-sensitive concrete core activation are additional measures that have been implemented to operate the new plant in an energy-efficient manner.
SIKO now produces for global companies in the fields of mechanical engineering and industry at its three plants in Buchenbach and Bad Krozingen in Germany as well as Cham in Switzerland. SIKO's sensors, drive technology and well-known position indicators have become indispensable, for example, on production machines for efficient position settings and for automated production at manufacturers of well-known products. SIKO also ensures increased safety for people and machines with special safety-certified sensors in safety-critical working conditions.
SIKO Managing Director, Sven Wischnewski, summarized: “The new and modern plant in Bad Krozingen was a necessary and correct step for the future of SIKO GmbH Our latest products are not only innovative, but also important in the realization of Industry 4.0 manufacturing and automation processes of industry. These are areas that are constantly gaining in importance and growing.
