Robust magnetic measurement systems for stone working machines

In the area of stone working, SIKO can score with long years of experience in measuring length and angle positions. We deliver displays and sensors e.g. for:

  • Stone band saws and buzz saws
  • Edge-polishing machines
  • Machining centers in the area of stone working
  • Transport systems and handling systems

Stone band saws
Stone band saws have been designed especially for outdoor use on construction sites. Their tasks include the cutting of a wide range of materials such as concrete, floor files, natural stone, tiles, aerated concrete, foamed polystyrene or expanded clay. Dry cutting or wet cutting can be used for working the materials. SIKO incremental sensors and SIKO displays are mainly used for exact positioning of the material to be cut and the position of the saw blade.
The displays enable the machine operator to easily read the current position on the machine on-site and make easy, manual positioning possible.

Buzz saws
Buzz saws serve for machining separation of a wide range of materials. They can be used for cutting wood or stone. Here, too, the exact position of the workpiece in longitudinal direction and horizontal direction as well as the position of the saw blade must be determined in order to ensure exact and repeatable cutting. Incremental magnetic sensors feature high robustness to all kinds of dusts and chips.

Machining centers in the area of stone working
Machining centers in the area of stone working cut to size worktops for kitchens and bathrooms for example. Furthermore, shaping work and embossing work is carried out on a wide range of workpieces. This requires reliably repeatable height adjustment and length positioning of the materials or shaping and embossing heads. Here, magnetic sensors ensure high repeat accuracy, tolerance to chips and dusts as well as high robustness when exposed to shock and vibrations.

Advantages

  • Large tape-sensor gap of max. 20 mm
  • Narrow, compact sensor designs
  • Wear-free and low-maintenance
  • Insensitive to dust, shavings, and humidity
  • High shock and vibration resistance
  • Suitable for outdoor use
